Elevation Foundation has worked with Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation in Nhulunbuy to facilitate healthy lifestyle programs for the youth in various communities in the Northern Territory including Gapuwiyak, Galiwin’ku, Elcho Island and Nhulunbuy.
The programs that promote physical exercise, nutrition and not smoking were designed in concert with local health officers to suit each community, working with the strengths and passions of its members.
These have resulted in programs that included:
- Rugby clinics with former Australian Rugby Union players;
- Basketball Clinics with Sydney Kings players and staff;
- Cooking and nutrition workshops with Aboriginal chefs; and
- Athletic workshops with Stall Gift winners.
